Woman with glowing smooth skin. (Model)

BOTOX Cosmetic is the most popular aesthetic treatment in the world because it produces consistently excellent results at a relatively affordable price compared to more invasive procedures. However, people who compare the cost of treatments at different medical offices or med spas should ensure that they’re comparing apples to apples.

That’s true both for BOTOX and BOTOX alternatives, such as Dysport®. Some providers calculate the price per unit needed to achieve your desired results, while others charge per area treated. In this post, we explore the issues affecting how BOTOX pricing is determined so you know what to expect.

How Is the Price of BOTOX Treatment Determined?

At our practice, the cost of BOTOX injections depends on the amount of the product needed to achieve the desired results. Different treatment areas require fewer units of BOTOX than others. For example, treating crow’s feet requires about 5 to 15 units per eye, and vertical frown lines between the eyes can take up to about 25 units.

If you compare the per unit cost of BOTOX to Dysport, you’ll see that Dysport costs quite a bit less. However, because BOTOX is more concentrated, it requires fewer units to get the same results as Dysport.
